Japan Prayer Fuel June 2022

Please pray with us as Japan looks towards re-opening its borders to foreign tourists, electing members for its House of Councillors, and continuing to grapple with COVID, Asia-Pacific international relations, and economic issues.

Japan Homeside Center (JHC)

1) Pray that one member’s daily life with God will be blessed, and that her son can grow healthier, spiritually and physically. 2) Praise God for the wonderful online mission event “Zoom in Mission II” (6-7th May). Please pray that participants will respond to the challenge for missions. Please pray for our director’s speaking engagements; 5th June at Japanese Gospel Church, and 12th June at Asagao church. 3) Pray for the International Leadership Team (ILT) meeting in Singapore from 20-24th June. Pray that God will help them discern His will on some important issues to be discussed at the meeting.

Japan Field Director

1) Church Planting Strategy Review: pray for God’s leading. 2) Pray for the Hokkaido Sector Leader deputising for the Field Director while he is on home assignment. 3) Hokkaido Area Conference is from 9-11th June; pray for refreshing fellowship and COVID-19 safety.

Candidate Coordinator

Pray for follow up of candidates from the Field Welcome Group meeting at the start of the month. Give thanks for opportunities to connect with homesides recently; pray for good relationships and ongoing communication.

COEN Life

1) Our colleagues will be on ministry leave this month. Pray that, in spite of preaching and wedding engagements, they will be able to get some rest and connect with more of their supporters around the world. Pray for one team member’s sermon and workshop on prayer at Nagayama Church in Asahikawa (26th June). Please pray these will bear fruit in the lives of local believers. 2) Pray for a qualified volunteer English teacher to join us at the cafe. 3) Praise for new non-Christians attending the weekly Bible study at Hokusei University. Pray for many students to come into God’s family.

Iai Girls Middle and High School & Hakodate Nozomi Church

Please pray for our colleague’s chapel messages on 2nd, 9th, 20th and 30th June. Please pray that her work contract with the school will be renewed, and that her visa renewal process goes smoothly. Pray for renewed hope, joy, energy and grace.

Kibō (Hope) Network

Praise the Lord for six Japanese brothers who want to join an eight-month long online church planting training cohort our colleague is facilitating. Please pray that it will bear fruit and lead to new, multiplying churches. Please pray for the preparation of a powder surfing workshop, with the local mountain guide and his community. Pray for the work of the Spirit in the hearts of the ones who have heard the gospel and the ones who will hear it. Pray for the mothers  our colleague is sharing with, for a hunger for more of Jesus.

Connect—Green Line Community

We are so grateful that the Lord brings new people to church and changes the lives of some people amazingly. Please pray that the Lord will continue to change the lives of people, and that they become witnesses of the risen Lord. Recently many people have given friendly responses, so please pray that the Lord will bring them to church. Pray that we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirt humbly, moment by moment.

Nakayoshi Church

As Japan goes into rainy season, please remember those who live outside and don’t have a dry bed to sleep in. Pray for follow up and deeper connections with those who came to our little jazz concert (29th May).

Tokyo Christian University (TCU) & Counselling

Please pray for: 1) the Lord’s work of healing and recovery in each counselee; 2) His help for our colleague teaching of a psychology class at TCU, and His work of equipping for the students through the class; 3) His help and guidance upon her training in psychiatric social work.

Sendai Student Focus (SSF)

Praise God that universities in Tohoku are restarting club activities. Please pray for the GUYS club (Tohoku Gakuin University) and English café (Shirayuri Women’s University). Team members are also volunteering as facilitators at online English classes (organized by TGU GUYS). Please pray for new connections from these activities.
