Japan Prayer Fuel August 2022

Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot on 8th July, two days before a parliamentary election. Please pray for his family as they grieve, and for them and political leaders recovering from the shock. Pray for the government, as power dynamics and political relationships shift and change in response to Abe’s death.

Maeda House Church Plant

Praise God for eight children from five families, who participated in the Kids’ Song Circle. Pray that the songs will stick in their hearts and draw them to Jesus. Praise that one of the mums will start studying the Bible. Praise God for three families who joined the camping outreach in June. Pray that each family would be encouraged to take steps of faith.

Nagayama Church, Asahikawa

Please pray for: 1) the salvation of Korean language class members; 2) God’s wisdom and guidance for youth Bible studies on Sundays; 3) spiritual growth for young people at the church; 4) preparations for two sermons at Midorigaoka Church and Nagayama Church.

Sapporo International Church (SIC)

Praise for newcomers at the English service.  Pray for them to feel at home and commit to coming regularly.  Continue to pray for wisdom and provision for the new church building project.

Sorachi Project

Give thanks for all the ways this ministry has come together and the exciting possibilities. Please pray for meetings with pastors who are interested in the Sorachi project, and for building relationships with Sorachi area churches.

Nakayoshi Church

Please pray for the church camp happening from 12th-13th August in central Tokyo. Pray especially for the new members and the homeless people that will join this time.

Tokyo Center Church (TCC)

Pray for God’s healing of the lead pastor from his illness and for full recovery. Pray for good team work and love for each other during the pastor’s absence.  Pray for members to have good relationships with God.

Hanamaki Megumi Church

A Japanese student is staying in the church and helping with ministry until the end of August. Please pray for children to come to the Teen Club and Holiday Bible Clubs. Please pray that one non-Christian member of the Teen Club will have a fun time and move closer to believing in Jesus at the Bible Camp.

Hirosaki Nozomi Church

Praise for beach days and end-of-semester parties in July. Pray for preparation over the next month for the fall semester, for wisdom in putting out a new advertisement, and for re-arranging classes after a change of staff. Pray that believers would grow, so that they develop good patterns, which lead to bearing fruit during their life on earth. Pray for seekers to work through different issues, and make firm commitments to follow Christ in baptism.

Tsugaru Gospel Church – Itayanagi Chapel

1) Please pray for the missionaries’ daily walk to be filled with the Holy Spirit and that they would be reminded of their Chrisitan identity. 2) Pray for God’s wisdom in Japanese learning. 3) Pray for God’s love to deepen friendships with neighbours and language trainers. 4) Pray for the local church to thrive and share the gospel.

Sendai Evangelical Christian

Pray for a lady doing baptism classes to develop genuine faith, and for God to raise up many believers. Events in August are: Gamo outreaches on 4th, 11th and 21st August, Yuriage mini-concert 20th August. Pray also for English classes at Hitokita to expand.

Sendai Izumi Park Town

One lady, who has not been to church for months, feels uncomfortable worshipping with people who have had the COVID-19 vaccine.  However, during her time away from church she seems to have come into contact with false teaching online.  Pray that the Lord would protect her and draw her closer to himself and fellow believers in the church.

YahaBible Network

1) Pray for the mums the missionaries have been meeting with. Pray for God’s comfort and strength for a lady whose son has been diagnosed with serious illness. 2) Pray that the missionaries be able to meet with one male seeker again. 3) Keep praying for another lady, who is growing in her understanding of the Bible, that she would commit herself to Jesus.
