Local Area Team Leader – V

God has given OMF International a heart for Asia and the desire to bring his hope to billions. To do this, OMF International seeks to mobilize individuals to become more engaged with long-term ministry in East Asia. The Local Area Team Leader will develop and mentor a team to strategically raise awareness for missions involvement in their town or city.
Supervised by: Area Coordinator
Supervises: Local Area Team members
Relates closely with: Global Ministry Group Facilitators
Status: Volunteer, minimum eight hours per month
Location: Virtual or local

Lead a team:

• Recruit and help screen people for a Local Area Team.
• Lead the team in defining its local target area.
• Lead the team in developing and implementing strategies to mobilize its target area for missions.

Invest locally:

• Attend and/or lead a Global Ministry Group, which is a local group of believers who gather to discuss ways to become more deeply involved in the Great Commission.
• Shepherd Global Ministry Group Facilitators.
• Provide encouragement to those interested in active involvement (whether overseas or local) in God’s heart for East Asia.
• Help volunteers, missionary applicants and inquirers take practical next steps in seeking their role in God’s plan for the nations.
• Connect others to the various mobilization events and opportunities within the local area.
• Mobilize volunteers to represent the ministry and vision of OMF International (U.S.) to various regional audiences, such as churches, schools, constituents and students.

Pray for new workers for East Asia:

• Spend time weekly praying for the needs of East Asia and OMF International.
• Pray consistently for each Global Ministry Group Facilitator.

• Love for Jesus Christ and growing relationship with him.
• A humble heart to invest in others preparing to serve God in missions.
• A teachable spirit and flexible attitude.
• Passion for East Asia and reaching its peoples for God’s glory.
• A self-starter and motivator, able to proactively plan.
• Sufficient verbal, written, presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working and interpersonal relationships.
• Experience working with people of different ages, denominations and ethnicities.
• Experience in short-term or long-term cross-cultural ministry preferred.
• Sufficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
