“And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,” (Isa 9:6).
December 2020
SUNDAYS • Special outreach opportunities
Churches often use the Christmas season to reach out and share the gospel with non-believing friends, families and neighbors. Lift up the many Christmas programs, parties and informal gatherings at which believers will share the good news about Jesus. Pray that many East Asians come to adore the Lord Jesus Christ this December.
MONDAYS • Christmas outreach
Imagine sharing the gospel with a Christmas program in a public school. Christians and churches throughout Thailand are often invited to share the true meaning of Christmas in fun programs in schools. Additional opportunities include prisons, hospitals, shopping malls, community centers and homes. Pray for Christians to speak the truth in love. Pray for the message of Christ to be clearly presented in the midst of fun and celebration.
TUESDAYS • Honoring Christ in the DPRK
For the few quiet disciples in the DPR Korea, Christmas is a lonely time. Probably most people under the age of 70 do not know that it is a holiday abroad. (The nation celebrates December 24 as the birthday of Kim Jong-Sook, wife of DPRK founder, Kim Il-Sung.) Pray that believers in the North will remember the Lord Jesus and show forth the aroma of Christ, faithfully honoring their Lord and Savior.
WEDNESDAYS • Healthcare ministries
At least 100 OMF healthcare workers lovingly serve among East Asians. Pray that OMF healthcare ministries would comfort many and draw people to the healing Christ offers for their bodies and souls. Pray for wisdom and ways for workers to minister to people especially in the context of the pandemic, and that those “stranded” in the U.S. may return to East Asia as soon as possible. Ask God to send more healthcare workers into the harvest field.
THURSDAYS • Seeing Christ in Christmas
Christmas in the U.S. can be a difficult time for some third culture kids (TCKs). Witnessing the materialism of Christmas in the West while also interacting with family members they have not seen in a while can be a lot to handle. Pray for OMF TCKs to find true joy in Jesus this Christmas season.
FRIDAYS • Gospel outreach in Japan
Less than one percent of Japanese know Jesus as Lord. Pray for love, patience, wisdom and creativity in sharing the gospel message using Japanese cultural forms, so that it is understandable to the Japanese people without compromising biblical integrity. The Christmas season presents numerous opportunities for churches to share the true meaning of Christmas and the Gospel to a spiritually needy nation.
SATURDAYS • God faithfully supplies
As missionaries fully depend on God for needed provision, pray that God’s people would follow his promoting in their year-end giving. Pray for full financial support for the U.S. home team members and staff. Praise God for his abundant provision during this unusual year of 2020. Pray for financial provision during the year ahead.
Call Him Immanuel
Celebrate with scores of faithful intercessors who have prayed for God’s work among East Asians during the past year. God answers prayer. Praise him for abundant grace during a year filled with unusual challenge and unlimited creativity. “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15).
During this Christmas season, may hope be your anchor. “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure, (Hebrews 6:19).
As prayer warriors, you have blessed scores of OMF workers by your faithful commitment sharing the hope of Jesus with East Asia’s millions. All of the OMF (U.S.) family relies on your commitment during the year ahead. Thank you!
