Many of you will have questions about how you can continue to be connected with OMF (UK) at this time. We hope to answer some of those questions here. While some of the ways you would usually connect with us may not currently be possible, we hope there are new creative ways of connecting with us that we can try at this time.

How can I get in touch whilst the National Office is closed?

The office is still working and you can still get contact us. Although the team are currently away from their desks, we are working remotely and are able to pick up emails and phone messages. So please send us an email or call the office, leave a message and we’ll get back to you.

You can also get in touch with your local Area Representatives, their contact details are available here.

What are some other ways of staying connected with OMF?

We believe the current difficulties will help us be more creative in helping you engage with what God is doing in East Asia.

Social Media

If you are on Facebook or Twitter and don’t already follow the OMF UK accounts, this is a great time to start. There you will find updates from East Asia, topical articles and current prayer points from our centres across East Asia.

Latest prayer requests

We know how important it is to have the latest prayer information to hand. So you can now find the latest prayer requests from OMF centres around the world on a dedicated website pray.omf.org.

Prayermate is an app for your smartphone which helps you to organise your prayer life so that you pray consistently for all the people and causes you care about. In the app you will find prayer materials from a number of mission agencies, including OMF. There are a number of prayer feeds from different OMF centres which you can subscribe to to receive regular (usually daily) prayer updates. Prayermate have produced a helpful step by step video which will get you started using the app. You can find the video here.

Let us know how we can help you

We would also love to hear from you about ways we can help serve you at this time through online means. Please do give us a call, send us an email or drop us a message on social media.

How has OMF been responding in the UK?

You can find a statement from the OMF International (UK) Leadership Team here.

OMF International has taken a number of practical steps to protect our workers as the outbreak develops.

You can read a statement from OMF International Assistant General Director Sam Wunderli here.

You can find updates and prayer points from across East Asia on the International website here.

What will happen with my Serve Asia (short-term) trip?

In light of current national and international advice not to travel we have currently made the difficult decision to say all Serve Asia trips due to take place over the summer of 2020 have been postponed or cancelled. We will continue to review this situation and keep you informed. If you have any questions do contact Freddie uk.sacoordinator@omfmail.com

Is the OMF Scotland Conference cancelled?

Unfortunately, in line with UK government advice on social distancing and social gatherings the Scotland Conference will no longer take place from 1-3 May.

We are looking into the possibility of running an event later in 2020. For more information contact Martin & Jenifer Paterson.

What is happening with other OMF local events?

We have currently postponed or cancelled all OMF events and gatherings for the foreseeable future in accordance with UK government advice on social distancing to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

How can prayer groups continue to pray together?

Whilst the government has asked that we do not physically meet with those we do not live with, there are ways to continue to pray together virtually. Do explore how online tools such as Skype, Zoom, and WhatsApp can keep you connected and praying together.

We will put up some tips and how to guides to get you started as soon as we can. Please continue to pray for the unfolding situation in East Asia, we’ve got some ideas of what to pray here.

Will I continue to receive prayer news and Billions?

The prayer news will not be affected. You will still receive Prayer News Bulletins from our workers, together with the prayer news for Scotland, England & Wales, and Ireland.

Billions magazine may arrive later than usual, and this depends on designers, printers and distributors who may be affected by the COVID-19 symptoms and restrictions.

In the meantime, please take the opportunity to explore Billions online, listen to the Serve Asia podcast, and to take a look at online prayer resources.

How do we find out about the workers we partner with?

Given how things are changing so quickly in East Asian countries, it is not possible for us to provide details of every UK OMF worker in every area of service around the world. Please keep in touch with workers you know personally. They will be able to provide you with more information about their country and team. And keep checking our website for updates and prayer requests from East Asia as well as from colleagues closer to home in Diaspora Returnee Ministries. You may also want to consider ways you can continue partnering with workers – for example through online meetings, care packages and email updates.
