Typhoon Ambo: pray for the Philippines

‘Typhoon Ambo left the Philippines on May 17th but not without decimating several towns and villages on the islands of Samar and Masbate and Southern Luzon.

These islands are relentlessly battered by typhoons year after year and it seems that just as they are getting their livelihoods and homes back together again they are hit again.

OMF has a small church planting team on the Island of Samar and while they were unaffected on this occasion, they are still recovering from Typhoon Ursula (international name: Phanfone) before Christmas. Please join us in praying for those affected by typhoon Ambo. Please also pray for our team as they explore business as mission models of ministry helping the Waray Waray people on Samar with developing sustainable livelihoods in this challenging context.’

Will you pray for the Philippines?

  • Pray for those affected by typhoon Ambo as they seek to rebuild their lives
  • Pray for the OMF team on Samar as they seek to love and help their neighbours
  • In this time of typhoon season and COVID-19, pray for people to be kept safe from the tropical storms and pandemic. Seeking to do both in the emergency response to typhoons is a challenge. So pray for wisdom for the emergency response to typhoons, so that people can be evacuated and social distancing be maintained.
  • Find further background on the impact of typhoon Ambo on this local news website (news story from 19 May).
