The gospel that people see…

“For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” 2 Corinthians 2:15
We pulled up to the home of Aunty Saad little before 5pm. This was part of our usual routine to encourage her in her spiritual growth as a new believer. She was already waiting for us with her two grandchildren, Taeng Gwa and Stamp.
Today we had a gift for the kids – 2 tubes of bubbles so that they could blow bubbles outside their home. Both of them happily accepted the gifts and played as we spoke with Aunty Saad. When Aunty Saad’s son returned to the house, Stamp ran up to his father excitedly, holding the bubble liquid and exclaimed “Jesus gave this to me!”
We were amused by what Stamp said as we realized that in his excitement, he did not remember our names. However, thinking about this, I realized that what Stamp said has deep spiritual significance.
The 19th century late British evangelist Gypsy Smith once said “There are five Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and the Christian, but most people never read the first four.”
As we continue our Thai language studies in Lopburi with the aim of proclaiming the Gospel to the Thais, I often overlook the fact that how we behave and act speaks about Jesus more than what we manage to say.
This is an encouragement that our ordinary lives are, in fact, sacred in as much as it portrays to others who Christ is. In the same vein, there is a possibility that what we say or do can discredit Christ in the eyes of those we hope to reach more than any other non-believer can.
So as we learn what it means to witness Christ day by day, may our lives reflect the full magnificence and beauty of who Christ is so that all men will be drawn to Him.
