Titus and Shannon Gilbert along with their son Elijah, and their two daughters, Angel and Selah, live in a village in Nong Kung Si, in the province of Kalasin, Thailand. Prior to coming to Thailand, the Gilberts lived in the U.S., pastoring a community church in the state of Indiana.
After taking a course called Perspectives on the World Christian Movement, Titus and Shannon both knew it was time to move overseas in order to take part in spreading the Gospel of Jesus to those who haven’t heard, particularly the areas with unreached people groups. The Lord led them to the people of Isaan, in Northeast Thailand, and after a time of praying and fasting, they knew this was where God wanted them to serve.
Since then, the Gilberts have moved to Thailand, completed one year of full-time language and culture study through OMF’s Daniel Training Program, and are now continuing to study as they live and serve in Isaan.
In their short time of living in Isaan, the Gilberts have already seen the Lord working in the lives of Christians and have been able to meet many new people including neighbors, teachers, store owners, and children. The Gilberts are thankful for those who pray for them as they serve in a foreign culture and they continue to rely on God’s grace and mercy every moment of every day. Their prayer is for entire families in every village in Isaan to come to know Jesus as their Savior, so that village by village, healthy and reproducing Thai led churches would be planted.
Isaan is one the largest areas of Thailand, but there are many more opportunities for more Christians to come and take part in spreading the Gospel of Jesus and help disciple the believers in the rest of Thailand, so that they can in turn spread the Gospel in their own families and communities. Is God calling you to serve in Thailand?
His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us.
Acts 17:27 (NLT)
