Mark and Anne-Marie Bak have 3 children: Celeste, Irene and David. They are seconded by Kimon, a Dutch interdenominational organisation serving children. Before coming to Thailand, Mark was a structural engineer, Anne-Marie a French teacher.
Soon after Mark’s conversion, he had a clear call to serve as a missionary. Praise the Lord, Anne-Marie had a longing to serve as missionary as well. An advertisement in a magazine drew our attention to Thailand and after a period of praying, God showed us very clearly that He called us to Thailand.
After a year of language study in Lopburi, we moved to a little village called Baanmeng in Khonkaen province. We are serving the children in Isaan by supporting the church planters and the Isaan church in children and youth ministry. Besides that, we are reaching out to the children and youth in our own district through children’s club, teaching English and activities for teenagers.
We hope and pray that God prepares the hearts of more people to come and serve the children and youth in Isaan. We like to see at least one children’s worker and at least one youth worker serving in each cluster in Isaan. Children are easily reached by having children’s clubs, Sunday school, English teaching, etc. Youth are reached by sports and outdoor activities, English teaching, etc. We hope to see new workers set up different activities close to and in cooperation with a nearby church. Encouraging and discipling Isaan Christians will be an important task of the new workers.
