Rene is a registered male nurse by profession and studied four years at Bible College (TDS Aarau, Switzerland) before coming to Thailand. Susanna is trained as a primary teacher. During Bible College Rene took an OMF short term trip to Thailand. God used this time to open his eyes to see the great spiritual need of the Thai people and he returned home with a clear sense of God calling him to serve in Thailand. This call was confirmed also to Susanna a few weeks later through the same Bible verse given on several occasions. Repeatedly we read that “we did not choose Him but that He chose us to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last…” This is what we are holding on to till this day.
After language and culture training we served in different church planting ministries for ten years, both in Central Thailand and Bangkok.
At present we are overseeing the OMF Daniel Training in Lopburi, Central Thailand, where new missionaries spend their first year of orientation and full-time language and culture training. Next to training and mentoring we also give very practical support to those arriving in Thailand.
As Daniel Training team we are constantly looking for people willing to equip, train and support new workers. We are praying in particular for people who are gifted in the area of language and willing to take on the role as language advisors to new learners.
We need people who have a vision to serve in Thailand long-term, who themselves have a good attitude of life-long learning, who are eager to keep learning Thai culture, language and worldview and who have a heart to serve other missionaries. We do believe that the investment into new workers during their first years on the field is crucial for effective incarnational ministry in the future.
