Noah and Maria Ward with Jonah and Finn moved to Thailand in November of 2016. However, this was not their first day in Asia. Noah first moved to Thailand in 2005 to teach Math at International Community School of Bangkok. He spent two years there followed by one year in Nakhon Sawan partnering with OMF. He moved to Hong Kong to teach at International Christian School in the summer of 2008. It was there that he met Maria. She was the 6th grade Humanities teacher and coached volleyball and soccer. Two years later the two got married and eventually had Jonah and Finn.
God put forth the opportunity to move to the slums of UlanBatar, Mongolia to help start an NGO that focused on using sports for community development. UlanBatar is the coldest capital city in the world and living with no plumbing or running water was quite the experience. The Wards loved their time in Mongolia and enjoyed working alongside the Mongolians. They became family to us. Jonah and Finn still talk about their family in Mongolia. In July of 2016, the Wards felt God was opening the door to move to Thailand to work with OMF doing Sattha Ministry.
God paved the way for the doors to open quickly and for everything to fall into place. The Wards are currently studying the Thai language at Lopuri Language Center. In November they will move a little bit further south to Ayutthaya or Suphanburi to work closer with Will and MengEn Brooks. They are looking forward to the opportunity to use their gifts in coaching to build relationships and make disciples.
The Wards consider Grand Rapids, Michigan their US base when on home assignment.
