Karl & Sun Dahlfred live in downtown Bangkok where Karl teaches missions and church history at Bangkok Bible Seminary, and assists with translation and editing at Kanok Bannasan (OMF Publishers Thailand), one of the few publishers of Thai Christian books. They are involved in a new church plant called Grace City Bangkok, and Karl does itinerant preaching at various churches in the Bangkok area and beyond.
Karl and Sun are from the United States and individually sensed a desire to serve on the mission field, and subsequently served in different Asian countries before meeting at OMF’s Candidate Course for new missionaries in 2005. They got married the following year and from 2006 to 2010 worked with a small church in Central Thailand to do new church planting. They have three children.
Karl earned a Master’s of Divinity (M.Div) at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Master’s of Theology (Th.M) at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Sun earned a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Biola University, and a master’s degree in TESOL from Asuza Pacific University.
