A New Note
“Now that I know God who is love and the creator of everything, I refuse to live my life in fear again” – Note
Note used to live in fear and shame. She used to fear everything including people, spirits, and the dark. Ever since she heard the gospel many years ago, she started sharing her sad childhood of physical and emotional abuse with shame and guilt. Her mom always said that parents were never wrong. Therefore, Note always accused herself of being a bad person if she was punished. In order to be loved and accepted by her parents, she decided to do whatever they wanted her to do. She also thought that the many quarrels that happened in her home were due to lack of money, so she worked hard to provide for her family. However, even when the economic status got better, the problems in the family didn’t change. Trusting people has been very difficult for her, so trusting God who she can’t see with her own eyes was even more difficult. She went after idols to seek success in her professional career as it was her mom’s wishes. As things didn’t happen as she thought, she got disappointed, tired, and confused. She started questioning who rules everything. She thought to herself that there must be someone who is above all things. Then, she remembered the God of the Bible, so she surrendered to Jesus, letting him guide her according to His will. Praise the Lord for His amazing ways to reveal Himself, showing her His omnipotence. Since then the Holy Spirit has been healing her past, giving her strength to say no to emotional abuse and willingness to forgive her parents. Last month, she got baptized, and she glorified God with her testimony of how Jesus is transforming her painful and shameful past to a life of freedom, unconditional love, and peace.
Please pray that Note will be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might as she is facing heavy persecution from her family and friends because of her faith in Jesus.
“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.” Isaiah 61:1-3
