Thailand bids farewell to a beloved monarch

 In All

Today, October 26th 2017, with the ceremonies of the royal cremation, Thailand bids its final farewell to the beloved, late king H.M. Bhumibol Adulyadej. Born on December 5th 1927 he ascended the throne on June 9th 1946. At the time of his death on October 13th 2016 he was the world’s longest-serving head of state and longest-reigning monarch in Thai history, serving for over 70 years. During these years he had been a monarch with close ties to his people, investing his life for the welfare of the Thai. This has led him to be highly revered by the Thai people.
The past 12 months have been a time of mourning for the Thai people and at the same time also remembering the monarch’s example and service.
OMF Thailand is immensely grateful for the religious freedom Thailand has been blessed with during the reign of the late king H.M. Bhumibol Adulyadej

I was there last year and observed all the buntings and billboards put up to honor him. It was easy to tell how much he was loved.
