An Unfinished Task!
We’re very excited to be partnering with Keith and Kristyn Getty to launch their new version of Frank Houghton’s much loved hymn, ‘Facing a Task Unfinished that drives us to our knees’. Listen to the hymn here: gettymusic.com/facingatask
Keith and Kristyn Getty write: This lyric has deeply affected us, not just personally but creatively as we begin to record a new collection of hymns this year. It has become our theme song, the center piece and rallying point for our writing. The text is not passive or ambiguous. It is comforting but not comfortable. It sharpens our eternal sight, deepens our love for the lost, makes us more gospel fluent, mobilizes our hands and feet to action.
This text is more than a passing whim, more than a New Years resolution, more than a fireworks display of quickly fizzled out emotions. They are not easy words to sing, they are raw – uncompromising. They stare you right in the face – they are “claim-every-breath-in-your-body” type words. Perhaps we’re riddled with fear or overly burdened with earthly pressures and treasures, perhaps we’re straining to see a bigger vision than our own but have become stuck.
‘Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us’ (Ephesians 3:20, NIV)
We’d love you and your church to be involved by singing the song on 21 February 2016 and featuring the needs of unreached peoples. Head to https://omf.org/thetaskunfinished to sign up for the FREE track download, music scores, missions resources and ideas.
