When Angie, from Myanmar was selling clothes in a mall in Taipei, an OMF worker met and invited her to a small group of the Shopworkers church. She became a Christian and grew a burden for the people of her own country. She want to give them the best -Jesus Christ . Yet for a long time nobody seemed to have any interest in the Gospel. One day however, one of her Myanmar friends, Ferny phoned and said: “Tell me how I can become a Christian”. That was the start of a small group for Myanmar workers, meeting in Ferny’s restaurant.
Recently when Angie and Ferny were eating in a cafeteria, a Myanmar girl sat next to them and they started to talk to one another. “I am a Christian and really want to find a church here in Taiwan” she said.
As a result, Angie together with the pastor from the Shopworkers church started doing bible studies with her using a mixture of Chinese and Burmese. Soon, other students joined in.
In December a Christmas party was held at Ferny’s restaurant with songs and dances in Burmese, games, testimonies and a telling of the meaning of Christmas. There were over 50 participants! Some have now started attending the Shopworkers Church night service. God is at work in Taiwan amongst the Myanmar people here.
