Serve God in Asia

Praise God for stirring your heart for missions! He is offering you the opportunity to bring him glory everywhere (Habakkuk 2:14) and obey the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20.)

As Christians, we are called by the Lord to participate in reaching people from every tribe, tongue and nation. All Christians everywhere – not just missionaries – are called to this great task.

At OMF, we have a term known as the “Six Practices of Missions”. This term refers to six ways people can be involved with the God’s work among the nations: going, praying, sending, welcoming, mobilizing and learning. We like people to think of these as habits that World Christians practise regularly in their lifestyle.

These are six significant ways you can contribute to God’s work in the world. As you read through it, think about how you can serve God now and in the future.

How will you join in?

Serve Asia is OMF’s short term missions programme for those who want to serve East Asia’s peoples for up to 12 months. With a focus on mission discipleship, it is designed to equip and encourage you and your sending community to find your place in all that God is doing in East Asia and beyond.

Short Term

Called to serve for more than one year?

Long Term (1-3 years)

Going to the field as an Associate is a great way to explore longer term service while gaining valuable first-hand experience on field. Spending longer time on the field will give you more holistic and deeper perspectives on missions. You can bless our missionary or local community with your professional skills and training.

Long Term (more than 3 years)

Long term workers seek to share the gospel through incarnational living in the communities. They plant churches, train local leaders, partner with indigenous churches, produce literature, teach theology, work with students and others. Go as a church-planter or use your secular professional skills in areas that restrict regular missions work. If you have a sense of God’s call and possess the right skills and abilities, there is likely a place for you out there.
