- Perform day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping, including accounts payable/receivable, receipts, payments, journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded, properly classified, supported by appropriate documentation and processed promptly.
- Perform bank, balance-sheet and other account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies thoroughly.
- Perform month-end and year-end account closing, prepare financial schedules, management reports and audit schedules.
- Process staff and ministry expense claims and ensure compliance with approved financial policies and procedures.
- Maintain orderly and complete financial records and supporting documents.
- Assist with budgeting, financial reporting and other finance-related administrative requirements as assigned.
- Work constructively with colleagues to resolve financial and accounting queries accurately and promptly.
- Observe appropriate internal controls, confidentiality and stewardship standards expected of a Christian charity.
- Undertake other reasonable finance duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or an equivalent recognised accounting qualification.
- Preferably 2–3 years of relevant hands-on accounting experience.
- Sound understanding of fundamental accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with accounting software and charity/not-for-profit accounting would be advantageous but is not essential.
The Person We Are Looking For
Because this role handles financial information requiring a high degree of reliability, we particularly value someone who is:
- Meticulous and thorough — checks work carefully rather than assuming it is correct.
- Strong in accounting fundamentals — understands the reason behind an accounting treatment rather than merely following previous practice.
- Responsible and dependable — owns tasks through to accurate and timely completion.
- Analytical — notices inconsistencies and investigates discrepancies rather than overlooking them.
- Organised — able to manage recurring deadlines and competing priorities systematically.
- Teachable and receptive to supervision — receives questions, corrections and feedback professionally and acts upon them.
- Collaborative and respectful — able to work closely with another Finance colleague, supervisors and non-finance colleagues without becoming defensive when views differ.
- Patient and service-oriented — recognises that Finance serves the wider organisation while also safeguarding proper financial controls.
- Communication and professionalism– able to communicate financial matters clearly, courteously and professionally.
- Independent and discernment– able to work independently while knowing when to consult or escalate matters.
Christian Commitment
As OMF Singapore is a Christian mission organisation, the successful candidate should be a committed Christian who is able to support OMF’s Christian ethos, mission and values and who regards good financial stewardship as part of faithful Christian service.
We particularly value the biblical qualities of integrity, humility, faithfulness, teachability and serving others well.
