Run a prayer meeting for the evangelization of the Peoples of East and Southeast Asia
Please use the suggested outline and resources to run a prayer time or adapt them to your own program.
1. Welcome and Introduction
- Briefly welcome everyone and explain the purpose of the meeting: to pray for the peoples of East and Southeast Asia and to connect our prayers with what God is doing there.
- Let people know the session will include visuals, scripture‑focused prayer, and time to reflect together.
2. Introduce the Peoples of East and Southeast Asia
Use:
Notes for leaders:
- Speaker notes are available to guide you through the slides.
- Two handouts are provided:
- One designed for a younger audience
- One for adults.
Use these to help participants understand the diversity of peoples, cultures, and contexts across East and Southeast Asia.
3. Optional Video, Connecting Prayer to Mission:
- Choose a video that you think will encourage your prayers to connect with the mission to East Asians. Here are some examples:
- Taiwan – Beneath the food and friendly faces
- Using your winter sports skills in Japan – To the ENDS – Japan (Ep. 1)
- Vietnam – Love Yeu Vietman
- Discipleship in Cambodia – Walking with Sochea
- Missional business in Thailand – Rien and Maaike
- Church planting in Japan – Obihiro Church
4. Big Picture Prayers
Depending on the time available
Option A: More Time Available
- Share the Big Picture Prayers found on page 5 of the presentation, before the individual ministry slides.
- Lead the group in prayer that reflects on God’s overall work across East Asia.
Option B: Short on Time
- Focus on the Big Picture prayer slide only.
- Use the Big Picture Takeaway Handout.
- Then move directly to Slide 12: “How can I carry this forward?”
5. Individual Ministry Prayers
The presentation introduces six ministry areas, each with key prayer points.
The handout includes all six topics, but you may choose to focus on one or two in more depth, depending on your group and time.
