This month many ministries will begin their regular meetings after pausing for summer break. Several missionaries are also meeting one-on-one with people who have an interest in studying the Bible. Let’s pray for those attending to grow in their knowledge of God and come to faith in Christ.
Bunkyoudai Rainbow Church
Pray for interaction with members of the students’ cell group, restarting at the end of September. Pray for the Sapporo Impact ministry, conducting chapel and small group at Rainbow Church.
Hiragishi Izumi
Please pray for events in September: Chinese language class starting from the 1st, Poetry Event (6th), Daytime English starting on the 8th, Church Members’ Meeting (13th), Team from a missionary’s home church (28th Aug-4th). Please pray for a man and woman who have been coming on Sundays and seem very interested, and for other non-Christians connected to the church.
Sapporo Nishi Fukuin Church
Please pray for good relationships with the pastor and his wife and the church members. Pray also for God’s wisdom and strength as the missionary leads the youth group, as well as for preparation for a sermon on the 13th. Also pray for the church outreach “Festival” on the 19th, that many will come.
Sapporo Minami Church
Praise God for many opportunities to share the Gospel in August! Teams from Malaysia and Athlete Church helped host events for children, seniors and families. Pray for the missionary who will be teaching people baking and sharing a Gospel message at an event during September. May He be glorified, and the scones rise!
Immanuel Fukagawa Christ Church, Koto ward, Tokyo
Pray for the missionary cooking and hosting a Singapore-theme event (13th) and hosting craft events (6 sessions, Sept-Oct). Pray for my preparations for Christmas Market (1st Nov). May local people who come regularly to events move towards Jesus.
Household of God Church, Adachi ward, Tokyo
Give thanks for a meaningful summer and opportunities to serve and connect with others. Please pray for one lady, two mothers in our group, and two women the missionary is studying the Bible with to experience God’s love and discover His purpose.
Musashino Chapel Center (MCC), Tokyo
The missionary here has recently started a Bible Study with a non-Christian girl who found MCC by searching for a church near her on Google. Please pray that she will be able to explain things clearly and that God would continue to open her heart to hear the gospel.
New Hope Yokohama
The missionaries are thankful for all the connections made and the love shared during the children’s and youth camp in August. Thank you for praying that God will continue working in the hearts of the children and young people. In September, they will finish their Colossians Bible study and then begin their own BSF course, studying Romans together. Pray that these Bible studies will not simply increase the participants knowledge but will draw them closer to Jesus and to each another. The missionaries are also thankful for last month’s baptism. Thank you for praying for the upcoming baptism on the 5th.
Returnee Ministries
Pray for the missionary who is leaving on home assignment, for her to finish her term well and for opportunities for gospel conversations. Pray for the team to adjust to being without her. Give thanks that two people are enjoying Bible study with one of the missionaries, and another missionary has started Bible study with a returnee seeker. Another returnee seeker has also said she would like to start Bible study. Pray for these returnees, and others reading the Bible regularly, to see the truth of who Jesus is and put their trust in him. Pray the team can connect with new returnees, especially at the crossing cultures event at the returnee cafe on the 19th.
Hanamaki Megumi
Please pray as English classes restart. There have been a few more join and others requesting 1-1 classes too. Please pray for good time management. Pray too for the church to continue well as we await a missionary couple’s return at the end of October.
Sakata Lutheran Brethren Church, Yamagata
Pray for (1) a Mums’ English conversation class the missionary is starting this month; (2) children’s English classes restarting with weekly Bible stories; (3) Sunday School messages on 13th and 20th and the message in the main service on 27th .
