Japan Prayer Fuel September 2021

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics concluded with moving moments and hard-won me d als from athletes all over the world. Now t he Paralympics is underway and will continue until September 5th. COVID cases surged over August as Japan battles Delta-variant infections. Currently, there are 21 prefectures under a State of Emergency, with the medical system being stretched to breaking point. As Japan enters into its second COVID fall season, schools and churches continue to struggle with facilitating classes and ministry online. Pray for God’s mercy and strength in the pandemic.

Sports & Olympics Ministry

Pray for us as we seek to build on the momentum from the Japan 1 Million prayer project to mobilize those who have been praying for Japan. Pray for guidance and grace as we discuss and plan how to move forward with sports ministry post Olympics and Paralympics. We are preparing to do ultimate frisbee outreach events with churches in Sapporo in the first week of October. Pray for wisdom to know what and how to do in terms of travel and activities in the ongoing COVID situation.

Social Media Team

We are thankful to promote the Japan 1 Million campaign, a push by the Japan International Sports Partnership and JEMA to get people praying for Japan during the Olympics and Paralympics. Pray that our efforts would mobilise people to be more involved in mission. Pray for the new OMF website – there are many difficulties that are taking time to iron out. Pray for personal encouragement for our team.

Hirosaki Nozomi

Praise God for time to connect with people one on one and in small groups over the English class summer break. Pray that God would use these conversations and relationships to draw people to Him. Praise God for several ladies who continue individual Bible studies – pray especially for three who are considering baptism. Pray for the team to have wisdom and energy as they share God’s Word through Pilates, English, etc.

YahaBible Network

Please pray for one of our members as she finishes her 2nd term and goes on home assignment. Pray for good farewells, despite COVID restrictions. Pray for a good transition amidst COVID.  Pray for the other team members (a family) as they continue the ministry as a single unit. Pray for God’s guidance on who to follow up with and for God to soften their hearts.  Pray for more co-workers for our team.

Sendai Izumi Park Town

We are thankful for our board members. Pray that God will help them grow spiritually and encourage them as they help care for the needs of the church. Online English class numbers have dwindled to two regular participants. Pray for opportunities for outreach. Pray that our church members would not grow weary in doing good but that we would encourage and support one another. Pray for our church to grow toward independence and for a building.

Hanamaki Megumi

Praise God for the 14 children who came to a youth special event in August. Pray that this momentum will carry forward into weekly group meetings starting September. We are now down to a team of two so we are thinking careful about what we should have in the schedule. Please pray for wisdom and for good agreement with the church advisory board on appropriate measures against COVID. We will restart Bible study with a seeker in September. Please pray for her conversion. Members are feeling the stress of the virus. Please pray for peace.

Sendai Evangelical Christian Church

Please pray for our (the church leaders’) return from overseas on Sept 11, that we can go straight into ministry, and that if restrictions are still severe  we can still minister effectively online. Pray for new attendees at worship to come to saving faith, and for those who have stumbled because of the pandemic to return to the Lord and the church. Pray for the seed sown in the tsunami areas to bear fruit and God to raise up believers and churches.

Matsudo International House Church

We are thankful that church continues online but with limited attendance and limited opportunities for outreach, pray for members’ spiritual growth and against complacency in evangelism during COVID.
