This month’s prayer focus is on the work and ministry in Hokkaido, Japan’s large northern island. Please pray with us for the work and ministries in Hokkaido, and the many churches and ministries not listed below. There are many transitions in roles and leadership in the weeks and months ahead. Please keep Hokkaido in your prayers!
Hokkaido Sector Leader
Pray for people in transition, a few Hokkaido members are moving and some of them are still searching for a house or apartment. Pray for people settle into their designations in March and April, and for the Lord to help them to develop meaningful relationships. Pray for the transition of Hokkaido Sector Leadership Team, giving thanks for the service of those who served before. Pray for new leaders as they take up their roles. Pray for everyone’s travel to and arrangement of the members’ meeting March 20th. Pray for Sermon preparation for 1st and 29th.
Chitose Light Chapel
In March children service programs take place on the 1st and the 15th. On the 15th there are plans to make it an early Easter Special. Pray for good ideas and that many kids will come. It is also the last Children’s Service before one mission family go on Home Assignment. Pray for a good handover from now until April 3rd. Please pray for this transition phase and the missionary remaining, figuring out what she can do and can’t do with the absence of the team. There is another missionary from another organization that will help with the ministries at the chapel. Pray for good talks to discern what working together with her will look like.
Immanuel Sapporo Christ Church
Praise God for Mrs. K accepting Jesus after two years of Bible discussion with pastor’s wife. Pray for how she can come to church and be baptized as she takes care of ailing parents who are Buddhist and socially-challenged their daughter. Pray for kindergarten kids as they go to the next year.
Obihiro Glory Church
Pray for 1) a closer walk with Jesus. 2) Time management and language study (preparing for the N3 test). 3) Missionary kids’ faith to grow (Oldest was baptized in December!). 4) New contacts in archery club to come to Christ. 5) Opportunities to share the Gospel with friends. 6) Salvation for one missionary’s walking buddy, our JSDF, English speaking, and musically gifted families. 7) New friendships to bloom attending Mom & Baby groups.
Thank God for a first sermon going well! Deepening relationships and the church and its kids’ program as well as Less snow than last year.
Sapporo International Church (SIC)
Pray for the church’s AGM on March 1st. For meeting materials to be distributed in good time beforehand. For ongoing consultation meetings and fund raising programs for the new church building. Also for messages every Sunday at the four languages worship services. For small group Fellowship meetings after each service and lunch fellowship afterwards. Pray for good networking opportunities and meaningful conversations. Prayer for the English University outreach over the school break. Praise for the many English Cafe people who came to SIC’s Gyoza Party in Feb. Pray that hearts will soften to the Gospel of Christ.
Shin Sapporo Bible Church
Pray that the missionary here will finish his final month with the church faithfully. May the Miura Reading Club (14th) and Kids Music Camp (26–28th) be opportunities for local people to hear the gospel. Pray also for preaching on 8th and 22nd and leads Bible studies on 4th and 11th.
Shiroishi Megumi Church
Pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, protection, and unity as the church prepares to start several adult small groups next month. Pray for U-kun to be encouraged and grow in faith as he prepares for baptism. May God bless each with love and grace, as we walk with Him.
Sorachi Project (Satsunae Lighthouse Church)
We give thanks for elderly Mr. S who confessed faith February 17th and is seeking baptism. Pray for a good end to the Isaiah class and for the two students who are on schedule to graduate from Hokkaido Bible Institute on March 14th. Lighthouse Church has their AGM on March 22nd, pray for unity about how to support a young church member who is called to full-time ministry. Lighthouse Church’s roof leaks, pray for favour with the insurance company and for a long-term solution. Pray preachers can be found to help support Sunagawa, Bibai, and Mikasa Churches.
Taihei Christ Chapel, Sapporo
Give thanks to the Lord that the missionary here who goes on Home Assignment finished packing up and moved into the guest house. Please pray for good farewells with Taihei Chapel on 22nd and farewell party with English class students on 28th. Pray for sermon preparation on 1st and KGK camp from 10th to 13th.
