Japan Prayer Fuel March 2022

Japan begins to welcome spring, as plum blossoms and early cherry blossoms start to bud. Spring, a season of new beginnings and rebirth. Please continue to pray with us as we prepare for new workers coming after the border opens this month, new school semesters beginning from April, and new ministries starting.

Japan Homeside Center

Please pray for the committee for the Overseas Mission Liaison Association (JOMA), holding a Zoom mission forum called Mission II (6th-7th March). The committee members are young and enthusiastic. They are very excited about the event, and keen to share their passion for missions with Japanese churches, particularly young people. Pray for planning and mobilization for the event.

Japan Field Director

As Japan’s borders open in March, please pray for our new workers and those welcoming them. Our Designation Working Group (DWG) and Field Leadership Team (FLT) meet from 7th-10th March; pray for the Lord’s leading. The Church Planting Strategy Review team finalise their literature research this month and then analyse the results. Please pray for this process.

Hokkaido Sector Leader

Give thanks for the Lord’s protection of our members this winter, especially with the heavy snowfall in Sapporo. Please pray for a good closure to the church year for all the churches and our ministries in Hokkaido. Please pray for a fruitful OMF Members’ Meeting on 17th March.

Kanto Sector Leader

Pray for God’s guidance as we hope to hold MEED 1 (Multiplying Effective Evangelists & Disciplers), in person, at the Ichikawa office from 14th-18th March. Pray for wisdom as we make the final decision about whether to go ahead.  We thank God for recent meetings with pastors and possible church planting partnerships, as well as interest in our evangelism training course.  Also, pray that the Kanto Sector Leader might have wisdom in communicating with pastors regarding this training in light of the pandemic.

Tohoku Sector Leader

Pray for good connections with churches in Fukushima. Pray for pastors and churches continuing to struggle on, and pray for people moving back to their communities after 11 years away since the 2011 Earthquake. Pray for new activities planned by churches, and for new workers that God is sending to minister. Pray also that we would know who to partner with and what to do. Pray for wisdom and vision as plans for the new church year are formed.

Serve Japan (SJ)

Praise God for the interest shown in Japan at the “Meet a Missionary” Zoom call hosted by Serve Japan on 19th February; more than 200 people attended overall! Pray for homeside Serve Asia (SA) coordinators as they follow-up with attendees. Pray for patience and joy for Serve Asia Workers (SAWs) as they wait for Japan’s borders to open and for the ministries here eagerly awaiting SAW help. Please pray that as the borders open, we’d be able to welcome many.

Third Culture Kid (TCK) Advisor Team

Pray for TCKs in transition; two teens graduate from high school, one teen from middle school, two children from elementary school and one child from kindergarten. Pray also for one family heading to Switzerland for Home Assignment and another family returning from Home Assignment. Pray for the two families with children, coming to Japan for their first term as the border opens.

Candidate Coordinator

Pray for follow up with homesides and applicants after decisions at the Field Welcome Group and Associate placement decisions. Pray for two colleagues as they finish Orientation Course and transition to online language learning.

Training Sector Leader

Please pray for confidence in the Lord, generosity towards others, and mutual encouragement through Two Year Reviews with colleagues. Pray for good times with the Lord and his people in preparation for, and during, Field Leadership Team meetings from 7th-10th March.  Finally, please pray for preaching at Wakaba Church on 27th March.

Member Care Advisor

Please pray for God’s blessing on the Japan Evangelical Missionary Association (JEMA) Women in Ministry online event on 3rd March, and for God’s encouragement for the OMF Japan Lent Book Club beginning on 8th March. Pray for God’s guidance for the JEMA Member Care Committee as they meet on 11th March.
