Japan Prayer Fuel July 2024

Summertime brings new adventures and challenges. Please pray for OMF Japan members making transitions to and from Home Assignment, and for many young people participating in summer camps across Japan. Please pray for God’s spirit to be at work, and for God’s rest and peace on all those taking vacation.

Sapporo Guest Home (SGH)
Pray that the SGH would be a place of rest for people moving to Home Assignment and/or new designations. Pray also for good transitions. Pray for safe travel for those coming to the Day of Prayer (4th July), and for others coming for Ministry Visits, to meet people or for vacation. The family who run the SGH take holiday this month, so please pray for everything to run smoothly in their absence.

Bunkyōdai Rainbow Church
Pray for the Campus Crusade for Christ/CCC Korea mission team (5th – 24th July, also at Taihei Christ Chapel, Sapporo) and a family team from Hong Kong (15th July – 14th August). Pray that God would strengthen and use them for His glory. 2) Pray for the pastoral transition, as the current pastor hands over to the new pastor in July.

FmZERO & KGK
FmZero are going to Furano with the students on 15th July. Students also have exams before the summer break; please pray for perseverance for them. Pray especially for those who have started going to church, that they would be motivated to continue attending during this busy season.

Hiragishi Izumi Church
Give thanks for: non-Christians coming to church, the Lord at work through his word, a fruitful church members’ meeting, and, most of all, the cross and resurrection of the Lord Jesus! Please pray for the annual evangelistic outdoor service on 7th July, the graveside service on the 21st July, and the church’s involvement in the local summer festival on the 31st July. One colleague preaches 7th, 14th & 28th July. Please pray for the 4-5 non-Christians who don’t seem ‘far from the kingdom’. Please pray that all at Izumi Church would fear the Lord, have humble hearts, rejoice in the gospel and speak boldly of Christ.

Shin Sapporo Bible Church
The missionaries based here are planning to leave for Home Assignment at the end of this month. Please pray for good opportunities and protection, as they wrap up ministries and say goodbye to many people. Please also pray for the pastor, his wife, and the lay leadership, as they lead the church through some transition this summer.

Kanto Sector Leader
Praise God for a really good time at the MEED (Multiplying Effective Evangelists and Disciplers) training in Ichikawa. Everyone seemed encouraged, better equipped and challenged, in seeking to be light and salt, all to God’s glory. Pray for OMF members in Kanto to stand firm and stay close to Jesus, bearing fruit in life and ministry. Pray for members who’ve just returned from Home Assignment and for those preparing to return from Home Assignment; as well as those leaving Japan permanently. Pray for everyone to have strength, and to know God’s peace and joy.

TCK (Third Culture Kid) Advisor Team
Pray for families in transition, within Japan and to/from Home Assignment, especially for those changing schools. May each child know that God has gone before them. Pray for our new TCK Advisor as she attends OMF Orientation Course; may this help her to start to understand the issues TCKs and their families face on the field.

Aomori Christian Center (ACC)
Please pray for ACC’s summer camp season. ACC is still operating on a reduced scale, using two cabins, tents, hammocks and the dining room floor. Please pray for the Lord’s blessing on the following camps: TCK Camp (mainly missionary kids) (24th-26th July); Kids’ Bible Camp (28th-30th July); and Teen Bible Camp (1st-3rd August). Please pray that all who set foot in ACC will know God’s presence. Planning and work on our new 40-bed dormitory (Bethel Lodge) is proceeding slowly but surely. Pray that the Lord will open every door and smooth every path before us.

Fukushima Dai-ichi Bible Baptist Church, Iwaki
July is packed! There is a team from Tokyo Christian University coming for a week, a Youth Group Sleepover, a church summer festival, and a kids’ camp with four other Fukushima churches. Pray that these events won’t just be fun, but that the Holy Spirit will work in people’s hearts.
