2024 Field Prayer Focus:
Seeking a year of fruitfulness
‘I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.’ John 15:5. Pray: 1) That we will all remain in Jesus and bear much fruit; 2) That the fruit of the Spirit will be increasingly evident in our lives; 3) For fruit from the gospel seeds sown over generations here in Japan – may many people come to faith and be baptised; 4) For those we disciple to remain in Jesus and bear much fruit.
FmZERO & KGK Student Ministries
As it’s semester break, FMZero are focusing on meeting students informally. Please pray for opportunities to go deeper in conversations, and for wisdom in encouraging students to take the next step towards God.
Please pray: 1) For KGK (Japan’s Christian Student Association) National Evangelical Training Camp (26th February-2nd March). 2) That those who serve will fully rely on God, for each participant’s growth in faith, and good health for everyone. 3) For wisdom and a word from God in preparation for sermons and workshops for the camp.
Ministry Support in Hokkaido
As our colleague prepares for Home Assignment, please pray that God will guide in how to best use the time remaining. Pray for God’s direction in who to connect with, what conversations to have and how to pass on the baton. Pray that our colleague would finish well, overflowing with joy, grace and hope.
Hatogaya Evangelical Free Church
1) Pray for our colleague’s attendance at the Evangelical Free Church Assembly in Shizuoka (11th-13th February). 2) Pray for our colleague preaching on church planting once a month at the midweek service. Pray that the church will have a united passion for this work. 3) Pray for the Lord to use the two home group meetings in the area where our colleagues live, and for two non-Christians who attend. 4) Pray for friendships with local mums to grow and lead to gospel opportunities. 5) Pray for our colleagues’ son as he grows and for them to be patient and loving parents.
Kasukabe Evangelical Free Church
Please pray as the church continues to establish the Young Adults’ Bible Study at Kasukabe Church. Group members are very busy, so please pray that the next Bible study session will be a time of fellowship and spiritual growth, not a burden or a duty.
New Hope Church, Yokohama
Our colleagues give thanks that they were able to start the year with a baptism of two ladies in their 20s at the beach. Please pray for the faith of these ladies to be protected and to grow. The church is running the Marriage Course, with 10 couples signed up. Please pray that this will help strengthen the relationships of couples in the church.
Member Care & Counselling
Please pray for our colleague, teaching at the three weeks of the Asian Cross-Cultural Training Institute (ACTI) in Thailand, plus meeting trainees daily for counselling. Pray for guidance and strength.
Sendai Evangelical Christian Church
Please pray that: 1) Many more non-Christians would come to the church’s evangelistic events; 2) Those who come would get saved; 3) New Christians would grow in faith, as they prepare for baptism later this year; 4) God would raise up preachers from among the believers; 5) The church would be able to start evangelistic meetings at Hitokita; 6) God will provide a plot for a church building the church can afford; 7) Our colleagues’ daughter won’t have a recurrence of cancer. Finally, give thanks to God for our colleagues’ continued good health.
Jōsui Megumi Church, Tokyo
Pray for our colleagues as they build relationships at their new church. Pray for seekers at a weekly youth group to come to know Jesus, and for one in particular to be more open to the gospel, before going to abroad in March. Please pray that our colleagues would find good opportunities to serve at church. Pray also for our colleagues’ family to grow closer to Christ, rooting their identity in Him.
Izumi Park Town, Sendai
The church is starting a monthly evangelistic English Cafe on Sunday afternoons. Please pray that this ministry would follow God’s leading, for good cooperation and that it would bear fruit. Please continue to pray for salvation for one seeker, that the Holy Spirit will lead during spiritual conversations with them. Please pray that our colleagues’ Japanese will improve day by day, in order to lead Bible studies and preach.
Harvest Church, Tokyo
The church has started an afternoon service twice a month, to bring weekly Community Groups (cell groups) together. On 12th February the church has an outing to Chichibu, and many people loosely connected to the church have signed up. Please pray for these new and deepening relationships.
