Chitose Light Chapel
Please pray that kids from the community will have fun and learn about Jesus’ resurrection at the Easter Kids program (6th April). Please pray for consistency in Bible study with an attendee of the English Conversation class, and others. Pray for team members’ preaching in Chitose (12th & 26th April) and Sapporo (13th & 27th April). As a new member joins the team, please pray for a smooth move (2nd April) and for her to settle in well. Please pray for the combined Easter Service at Sapporo Evangelical Free Church (20th April), where an elementary school student and a university student will get baptised!
Nagayama Church, Asahikawa
Please pray for: 1) salvation of six young people, and members of the Korean class; 2) One student who is transferring to Tohoku University in April; 3) Continued growth in faith; 4) God’s wisdom and guidance for Bible studies; 5) The missionary who serves here, who has glaucoma.
Taihei Christ Chapel, Sapporo
Praise God for a good time with the Korean team in February, and pray for preparations for the Hong Kong team, coming from 14th-21st April. We plan to host a Hong Kong café and English Day Camp at church. Pray that people will attend.
Gyotoku Christ Church, Ichikawa, Chiba
The new church plant has begun Sunday services, but they are still looking for a place to rent permanently. (They currently rent a room just for Sunday mornings). Please pray as missionaries explore ways to get to know people in the community, for open doors and God’s guidance.
Jōsui Megumi Church, Tachikawa, Tokyo
Please pray as the missionaries and the pastor pray through ideas for approaching discipleship and youth ministry in the new fiscal year. Pray for seekers who continue engaging with the church. Pray for continued healthy family rhythms during transitions into the OMF Japan Sector Leader for Finance & Administration role. Pray for the family to each fall deeper in love with Christ each day.
Okachimachi Christ Church, Tokyo
Please pray for the missionary as she jumps into new ministry at Okachimachi Christ Church. She’ll be doing children’s lessons, speaking during prayer meetings and helping some church members begin outreaches, for example, an English café and a knitting group.
Returnee Ministries
Pray for current team leaders to handover well before Home Assignment, and for many opportunities to encourage/disciple/evangelise returnees, especially struggling believers. Praise God for one lady’s baptism and her desire to share the gospel. Pray for others to come to faith and get baptised. Praise for the Holy Spirit’s work in the women who come to the Tuesday online gathering. Pray for deeper understanding through studying Mark’s gospel. Pray that returnees doing Bible study will come to a knowledge of the truth in Jesus. Pray that English students (at Harvest Church) will want to read the Bible. Pray for one missionary family as they settle into their new home and community, and for their daughter starting school. Pray for them to get to know returnees and handover responsibilities.
Education
Praise the Lord that the Christian Academy in Japan is celebrating its 75th anniversary (6th April). May the day’s activities glorify God by testifying to his goodness and grace. Please pray for: guidance for senior students as they consider life after school; provision of staff; salvation for not-yet-Christian students and families.
Hanamaki Megumi
Praise God for one woman who became interested in the Bible through anime, and who is now studying the Bible. Please pray for her, and other seekers studying the Bible, to believe in Jesus. As the church intern finishes in April, please pray for smooth transitions and guidance for her next steps. Pray for three short-term missionaries from Germany who will join the team in April. One missionary family moved house in March, so please pray for a good witness among new neighbours and for God’s help in settling in. Please pray as the team think about the future of the church and handing over more responsibility to the church advisory group.
Hirosaki Nozomi
Please pray for blessing in the church. Give thanks for an adult English class student who came to church for the first time to hear a sermon. Pray for one missionary, for God’s wisdom in balancing Serve Asia ministry, church ministry and language study. And for another missionary, please pray for good rest during a week of holiday, and improved health, even during this busy time of Japanese sermon writing.
Midori-no-Oka Makiba Church, Kazuno, Akita
A missionary family arrived in Kazuno for the first time in March. Please pray as their children begin kindergarten and school. Please pray for good first contacts, and for spiritual health in this place where there are no other Christians.
