Japan Prayer Fuel April 2024

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19

April sees many new beginnings in Japan, amongst OMF Japan missionaries, and in Japan in general. May we also see God doing new things, making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland!

Sendai Student Focus (SSF)
Pray for those entering colleges and universities for the first time this month, and for student welcome events on 22nd & 26th April. At the same time, please pray for a good transition for new graduates, as they begin full-time work, or graduate studies. Please pray for students to come to know Jesus, and to stand firm in their faith.

Ichikawa Guest Home (IGH)
Please pray for the new guest home manager. Pray for him to familiarise himself with the rhythms and procedures, and for his adjustment to life in Japan. Pray also for another short-term worker, arriving to help this month.

Sapporo Guest Home (SGH)
Pray for encouraging reunions amongst missionaries and visiting family, friends and supporters this month. Pray for rest and peace for those staying at the guest home during transition to Home Assignment, or a new place of service.

Fukushima Dai-ichi Bible Baptist Church, Iwaki
Two new believers have started baptism classes! Pray for encouragement and assurance in faith. One missionary has started Bible study with a church member and another Christian who is struggling in her faith. Pray for encouragement.

Hokkaido Sector Leader
Please pray that the new OMF Hokkaido Fellowship Groups will deepen relationships and support. Please keep praying for the development of different church partnerships. Pray for missionaries who are looking for accommodation, and those who plan to move in April. Pray for the Hokkaido Bible Institute, as they have new teachers joining the team, including the principal.

OMF Ichikawa Language Hub
Pray for new missionaries to settle in quickly, and for a good start to language and culture study. Other missionaries at the Language Hub are changing their study focus this month, while another moves to their ministry placement. Please pray for new teachers for the Language Hub, and for those who support missionaries.

Nagayama Church, Asahikawa
Please pray for salvation for the young people our colleague is in contact with. Pray for God’s guidance in Bible studies with individuals and young people, and for God’s glory to shine through her sermon at Nayoro Church (14th April).

Chitose Light Chapel
A missionary couple move to begin ministry at Chitose Light Chapel this month. Please pray for packing and unpacking, and for their new ministry.

Sapporo Minami Church
The missionaries give thanks for the chance to meet new friends (adults, teenagers and children), and spread the good news. Pray that God will cause these gospel seeds to grow and bear much fruit. Please also pray for God’s guidance regarding the Business-As-Mission project with the church.

Church Planting Facilitator
Please pray for this ministry, which aims to partner Singaporean churches with churches in Japan. It takes time to build trusting relationships and vision. Pray especially for a possible partnership with a church in Fukuoka.

Personnel Sector Leader
Pray for the Personnel Sector Leader as she prepares to hand over her role in September. Pray also that God would guide in preparation for participation in OMF’s online General Vision Council meetings this month.

Member Care & Counselling
Give thanks for the work of the Holy Spirit in counsellees. Pray that counsellees will grow deep in the Word, and trust God’s promises, in the midst of daily challenges in family, life and ministry.

Social Media Team
Pray that people will be inspired to engage with God’s mission in Japan and among the Japanese, through the ministry of the Social Media Team.
