Yuzo and Hitomi moved to Stung Treng in North East Cambodia in 2011. Although YWAM missionaries arrived in Stung Treng back in 1992, 70% of its 132 villages are still without any Christian presence, making Stung Treng one of the least reached provinces in Cambodia. Yuzo and Hitomi are currently involved with both Evangelistic outreaches and discipleship
programs. “We have been building relationships with people and sharing the good news in a village called Sam Khuey’’ says Yuzo. “A village that currently has no Christians and is in a district of 22 villages that has only one church.”
Due to the fact that the villagers’ mother tongue is Loatian rather than Khmer, communication with them is not always easy and for this reason Yuzo and Hitomi hope to begin to pick up some of the Loatian language in the near future. However, they are grateful that they always receive a warm welcome at Sam Khuey village and that relationships with the people there are continuing to deepen despite the language barrier. Besides outreach in Sam Khuey, Yuzo has been involved in leadership training at two congregations. He recently led a course on expository preaching for preachers and is now preparing house group leaders for the task of teaching the foundations of Christianity to new believers.
Meanwhile, Hitomi has been instrumental in helping to train some girls to teach Sunday School. Yuzo and Hitomi continue their ministry in a difficult part of the country inspired by Colossians 1:28 ‘He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.’ Please pray for a break-through for the Gospel in the 132 villages in Stung Treng that still have no Christians.
