This month, we are thinking about hospitality. For many Muslims along the Silk Road and in Southeast Asia, sacrificial hospitality is an important value; they welcome strangers to their table with open arms and will often give more than they can afford. As we reflect on this, we also look to the example of Jesus, who welcomed others with compassion and used generous hospitality to bless those around him.
- Lord, thank you that your generosity is reflected in the generous hospitality shared by Silk Road Muslim communities. Pray that Christians who live alongside the Muslims of the Silk Road will have opportunities to bless them with the generous hospitality modelled by Jesus.
- Friendship on China’s Silk Road means sharing food with others. Pray God will open up opportunities for Muslims and Christians who live along the Silk Road to build meaningful relationships as they share food.
- Pray for opportunities for Christians to extend a warm welcome to their Muslim neighbours in Southeast Asia, reflecting the generous hospitality Jesus taught. May these acts of welcome lead to meaningful relationships, so that Muslims learn more about Jesus.
- Pray God will enable Christians around the world to extend warm and considerate hospitality to their Muslim neighbours, taking care to understand and respect dietary practices so that their welcome reflects genuine love, honour, and thoughtfulness.
