Eid al-Adha, the three-day Feast of Sacrifice, is celebrated by Muslims around the world at the end of this month on 27th May. For Muslim people, the festival commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, in obedience to Allah. Special prayers and the sacrificial offering of an animal are made during the festival, which also coincides with the end of the Hajj, the pilgrimage every able Muslim should make to Mecca in their lifetime.
- Pray for opportunities for Christians to have respectful conversations with their Muslim neighbors, asking God to enable them to be sensitive to their needs and beliefs during this time of celebration.
- Many Muslims in East and Southeast Asia are unable to make the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca due to cost or limited quotas. Ask God to use Christians living in the region to show compassion to Muslims who feel they are missing out because they can not fulfil their religious obligations.
