In OMF Japan, there are many people who serve in leadership and support roles. These roles are vital to ensuring OMF can continue to serve the churches and people of Japan well. This month, we encourage you to pray for some of these roles.
Finance & Administration Sector Leader
Praise the Lord for His boundless grace and mercy and His hand of protection over our team. Continue to pray for joy and strength during budget season, work without too many complications, the writing of reports, and actual upload on or around 9th. Pray for the entire team – that “normal” finance and admin work would proceed smoothly, nothing important would be missed, and that we can also juggle different projects (new finance system, new tax system, etc.) well.
Personnel Sector Leader
Pray for OMF mobilizers on the Sending Sides who journey with inquirers who are interested in serving in Japan. Pray for wisdom and discernment, for clear communication about the work in Japan, and God’s leading. Also, thank you for praying for the missionary’s family as they’re handling a challenging health situation.
Education
Grateful for daily grace. Pray for deepening conversations that encourage our Christian students and intrigue our not-yet-Christian students. Pray for (1) our high-schoolers doing a week of leadership training 5th-9th; (2) a restful Fall Break; (3) a fruitful educational leadership conference in Bangkok for the missionary and three colleagues.
Member Care Advisor
Pray that our members’ love may increasingly abound in knowledge and depth of insight so that they will be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. Pray that they may be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ (Phil 1:9-11).
Member Care & Counselling
Pray for the transforming work of the Spirit and for counsellees to prioritize time with God amidst busy ministry schedules. Pray for wisdom and guidance in teaching and counselling during the two weeks of ACTI Japan training at Yamanakako.
Serve Japan (SJ)
We give thanks for our Serve Asia Workers (SAWs). Pray SAWs will grow in faith and love. Pray for the SJ team to support SAWs, the field, and each other well.
Social Media Team
One of the missionary’s time with our team has concluded. Give thanks for all the creative work she’s done with the team. Please continue to pray for another team member’s help with content creation and scheduling as another missionary also will leave the team at the end of 2026. Pray for wisdom as they decide monthly themes for social media for 2027 and as they think outside the box about how they can involve Serve Asia Workers across the field in social media creation. Writers retreat: 5–9 October one missionary will lead a JEMA writers retreat with 10 missionaries attending: people from OMF as well as others. Pray for good fellowship as well as productive time thinking about and doing writing.
TCK (Third Culture Kid) Advisor Team
Pray for refreshing breaks for children attending international schools in Japan and boarding schools abroad. Ask God to guide families exploring schooling options clearly. Remember parents investigating possible or known neurodivergence in their child, asking for wisdom across different systems, helpful resources, and strong support from TCK advisors. As the one family undertakes their Centre Visits, grant them journey mercies and warm fellowship, and help their son to enjoy meeting new people and cope well with travel. Pray for every child’s safety and good health as the weather grows colder. Two families prepare to move after graduation from JLCC. Pray that their children share meaningful goodbyes with friends and look forward joyfully to what comes next. Finally, may God help each child grow physically and spiritually, knowing His love and grace through the shared support of parents, peers, and the church around them.
Training Sector Leader
Pray for wisdom in reviewing the Transition Training program and implementing it for upcoming JLCC graduates. Praise God the opportunity to do Leadership Training in Singapore in October. Praise God for settling into a church in Sapporo. Pray that despite the missionary’s busy-ness, they can find opportunities for personal evangelism.
