Hokkaido Sector Leader
Please pray for the Japan Evangelical Church Association (JECA) camp and the Alliance Church (Dōmei) camp in August. Pray that children and young people will get to know the Lord more, and that not-yet-believers will come to faith. Pray for preparations for a High School Bible Evangelism Association camp in Niseko in September. Please pray for missionary kids’ studies and pray for a good summer break for OMF members and for Japanese pastors we work with.
Immanuel Sapporo Christ Church
Our colleague praises God for a good experience teaching at a kindergarten. Please pray that the children will continue to know God’s love over the summer break. Please pray for his leading at a men’s Bible study discussion, and an English song and activity for the church’s children’s outreach (3rd August).
Momijidai Oasis Church
Give thanks for the children who attended the outreach organised by a short-term mission team from the USA in June. Please pray for: 1) The Holy Spirit to continue to move the hearts of the community through various upcoming events, such as the Summer Party and events run by short term teams. 2) Our colleagues’ perseverance and patience in reaching out to neighbours and in being a channel of God’s blessing. 3) The upcoming senior focus ministry.
Hatogaya Evangelical Free Church
1) Please pray for our August summer camps: for the leaders, volunteers, and all participating children and students; pray that it would be a fruitful time. 2) Pray for our colleague preaching on the 17th August; please pray for their preparation and that the message encourages listeners. 3) Please pray for the leading of the children’s message on the 3rd August and children’s service on the 10th August. Please pray for preparations, and for children to grow in faith, and to be open to the Gospel.
Tokyo Center Church (TCC)
Give thanks that our new colleagues have settled in Tokyo. 1) Pray that they can adjust to the ministries at church and have opportunities to connect to the community. 2) Pray for improvement in the Japanese language. 3) For the kids’ art event (30th August), and for kids from the community to attend. 4) Pray for physical and emotional health for our missionaries’ families in their home country, and for them to have a deeper relationship with Jesus. 5) Pray for discipleship opportunities with a lady and her two kids.
Education
Give thanks for this colleague’s time in Australia to see their kids. School starts at the Christian Academy in Japan on 20th August. Please pray for: a teacher who is beginning cancer treatment, staff to fill some unusual vacancies, smooth integration of new students, and salvation for families who aren’t yet Christian.
TCK (Third Culture Kid) Advisor Team
Give thanks for the OMF TCK camp at Aomori Christian Centre in July, especially for God’s provision. Pray for meaningful and refreshing family times, and for safety over the summer for many who are travelling. Pray for families visiting their passport countries to adjust quickly. Pray for the families moving to new areas in Japan: for the children to settle well, and to be salt and light where God has placed them. Pray for families coming to Japan for the first time: for children to adjust quickly, in language and church. Pray for children starting a new academic year in August and for those moving to new schools. Pray for the safe arrival of babies due this month and next.
Aomori Christian Center (ACC)
Please pray for the third and final summer Bible camp (for elementary age kids) from 4th-6th August. Praise God for a camp team (with Japanese speakers) from Vancouver, and that the number of camp applications continues to increase each year. Give thanks that the construction schedule for Bethel Lodge (with overnight accommodation for 40) is falling into place. The plan is to break ground on 7th August, and to finish the structure before snowfall.
Midori-no-oka Makiba Church, Kazuno, Akita
Our colleagues praise God for many connections and opportunities for deeper conversations, after four months of living in this area. Please pray for wisdom in how to best continue; one option is starting a regular children’s or parenting group. Please continue to pray especially for one neighbour family. One missionary here meets regularly with the dad to talk about the deeper things of life. Another missionary meets up with a Buddhist priestess, who has been very open.
