Patty’s Story

Patty was enjoying her work as a lecturer at a university in South Thailand when she decided she would like to study for a PhD.  She applied to go to the UK and was accepted at Nottingham University.

When she arrived in Nottingham, a new and unfamiliar environment, she met a Chinese lady who was very kind to her and looked out for her. As Patty got to know her she saw there was something different about this lady. Patty wanted to know what it was. She discovered her Chinese friend was a Christian. Patty to wanted to know more about Christianity and so she asked this friend if there were any Thai Christians.

Soon she was linked with Thai Christians who invited her to come to the annual UK Thai camp. She went along, heard more about Jesus and decided to start following him. So on the last day of the camp, Patty was able to give her testimony of how she had come to faith.

She returned to Nottingham and was baptized in her church in September 2015, but it all started when a Christian welcomed her warmly.

Who could you welcome and where might it lead?

Will you pray for East Asia’s Diaspora?

  •  Give thanks for those who welcome and befriend other East Asians who have moved to new places.
  • Give thanks for God’s hand on Patty’s life.
  • Pray for God to continue to lead Patty as she follows him.
