Do you have the gift of relating to young adults and building friendships with them? Do you dream of seeing communities of young people coming to know Christ in their student years? Do you have the desire to encourage college students in their faith and help them develop their gifts for God’s kingdom?

OMF International desires to see young adults and students in East Asia become life-long disciples of Christ. Our vision is to see indigenous movements of Christian young adults in East Asia teaching and encouraging each other to grow in faith, modelling Christian living, being committed to the local church and reaching out in evangelism and service. We start outreach ministries for marginalized young people, we work with evangelical partners in schools and colleges to establish Christian fellowship groups and we partner local churches, so that this generation may hear, believe and pass on the Gospel.

Our work with young adults and students include friendship evangelism, discipleship, and biblical training of student leaders. We often partner with university-based organizations such as Campus Evangelical Fellowship (CEF) or the national movements of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) to reach college students in East Asia. Where there is little Christian witness, we seek to establish contact by placing teachers in schools, colleges or vocational training institutions for the marginalized, or by running hobby-based clubs on or off campus (eg music, sport, drama).
We are looking for workers who:
– Are committed Christians desiring to serve God.
– Have a good grasp of biblical truth and the ability to do personal evangelism and one-to-one discipleship, and to lead Bible studies and discussion groups.
– Are good communicators, patient, flexible, approachable and willing to work under local leadership.
– Have a genuine love for young people and a desire to see them have a living relationship with Christ.
– Are willing to learn the local language, understand and appreciate the local culture.
– Have some formal Bible training. Certain countries require missionaries to have spent one to two years in Christian ministry or Bible school.
– Have a TESOL, CELTA or professional qualifications if hoping to be placed in schools/colleges.
– Have the experience of working in a team and as a mentor to young people. This would be advantageous though not necessary.
– Have previous cross-cultural experience. This would be beneficial but is not necessary.

If you are coming to serve long-term, the first 1-2 years of your ministry will be spent in full-time language, culture and worldview study. Upon completion of the language and culture program, you will begin transition to a ministry location and adjust to your new ministry context.
