China continues to search for all kinds of resources, making deals in Africa and South America, as well as with Arab nations and the West. Some up-to-date statistics bring home how great the Chinese need is for scarce resources:

In 2011 China’s share of total world demand was:

Cotton: 38%                              Coal: 42%                       Zinc: 42%

Iron Ore: 40%                           Lead: 43%                      Copper: 43%
