Dorcas & Kevin
Our recent Easter mission trip was truly an eye-opening experience where we experienced God’s grace and providence within the short 4 days. We served a group of eight TCKs aged from 2 to 15. We designed the children’s programme which included morning worship and Bible stories. The theme of learning was “Run the Race for Jesus”. Through interactive games and activities, the children got to learn about different Biblical characters who dedicated their lives to running their race for Jesus. Besides, we incorporated artistic elements to connect to children’s daily encounters to different emotions. This allowed children to channel and express their emotions through different fun art activities within a safe environment.

Despite the challenges we faced in the initial process of designing activities, we were in awe to see God at work. With such a large age difference, we were so happy to see the togetherness of the children. We saw how they interacted with one another with kindness and gentleness. The older children would always take the initiative to include younger children and to help them out when doing craft work. They often showed good teamwork during group activities. We thank God that the children were fully engaged, enjoyed the programme and built friendship in God’s family.

After our first mission trip serving TCKs, we thank God for opening up our eyes to this field. Often times Christians have broader understanding of missionary’s works, but it is easy for us to neglect the importance of their children’s upbringing. God inspired us to know that we can be part of the mission by praying and serving missionary’s children. It is not about us “fixing” their transition difficulties when moving to a new country – but instead walking alongside them on their journey of faith. We pray that God will provide us with more opportunities to support these children who are fearfully and wonderfully made.
