God at work: Yhamyheil’s testimony

We are always delighted to share stories of how God is at work. OMF workers Mark & Ruth McDowell had the joy of seeing seven young people baptised in October 2023. One of them, Yhamyheil, shares his story below:

‘My name is Yhamyheil, from the Philippines.

My father left home when I was three years old. My mother took care of us. I was raised up in Catholic beliefs. In 2019, I was 12 years old, I was so confused. I talked back to my mother, swore, fighting, watching bad things on the internet and doing other bad things. At that time, I liked to attend Batang Masaya (Happy Children’s Club) at the church. I just loved to play the games but I was not interested in listening to the Bible teaching.

During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the whole country was locked down. I could not come out my house. I watched the videos online which was made by the church pastors every week. Later on, the government lifted up the lockdown, I could go to church again. I volunteered helping the ministry on Saturday and Sunday but my life was the same. I was tied up by the bad behaviors.

One Wednesday, three coaches from the church visited me at my house. They told me John 3:16 ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.’ Although I still committed in sin, I knew I was wrong. One day, I felt the Lord was talking to me. I was a lost sheep. I gave my life to Him. Let him to be my pastor and my king.

I felt I was not good enough to be baptized. I didn’t want to be bad after being baptized. But thank God that my church friends encouraged me so I decided to be baptized on September 2023. Although I still have many struggles in my life. I am happy to see myself following the Lord.

Another praise to the Lord was my cousin. I invited him to come to Happy Children’s Club and basketball activity in the church. He came and later accepted Jesus as his Savior. Before he gave his life to Jesus, he was rebellious. But after he became a Christian, his life changed. He also got baptized with me. Praise the Lord.’
