In Japan, we have many worship songs translated from English to Japanese but we also have a good number of worship songs that originated in Japan. Today I want to introduce to you a popular Japanese worship song, 花も(Even the flowers).
This song was written by MEBIC, a kids outreach ministry by Airin chapel in Ebetsu, Hokkaido. I often hear this song sung at camps, perhaps because we’re surrounded by nature and it contains many reference to nature, 泉spring, 実fruit, 花flower, 雲cloud, 風wind, 大海ocean, 空sky. I love this song because it reminds me that even the flowers are praising their Creator God, and that, even if there are tears right now. we have hope that one day we will see fruit and joy, and we will see the Lord in his full glory.
When living in Japan you cannot help but appreciate the beautiful nature God has created, the layered mountains, the seasonal flowers on the side of the road, the dragonflies swimming in the sky announcing autumn is here!
I know many of you love visiting Japan, and perhaps even have plans to come in the next few years. I put before you a unique challenge to prepare for your next visit. Learn this Japanese worship song 花も in Japanese! You can start by just playing it in your car while driving to work or school, then slowly learn the lyrics! And when you visit Japan the next time, praise our Creator God with this Japanese worship song as you enjoy God’s handiwork.
