God has his agenda in short-term trips. We don’t always know what they are, but he has a habit of bringing the right people to the right places at the right time.
Just For a Season
Leslie* was just such a person. She had worked as an auditor in the US till she was made redundant, when she took a two-year associate placement with a team in the Mekong region.
Dealing With Conflict in Missions
She joined an international team of three women that was not doing so well. The three were in proximity a lot of the time but weren’t getting on well together. It was affecting them and their work.
A Call To Repentance and Peace
God used Leslie to shine a light on this situation. She came as a faithful Christian. She was able to point out how things weren’t working and call the other team members to recognize it and repent. Leslie’s arrival was a wake-up call for the team. Her presence helped bring the team on to a better place, ending the dysfunction that might otherwise have gone on for years, damaging the team members and the work in the area.
Blessed are the Peacemakers
Leslie was not called to spend the rest of her life with that team. Just a season. It was one that she served faithfully in. One that God used to call his people to repent and change where they needed to but that he also used to bless Leslie.
