In Thai language the word for temple is ‘wat’. While most of our trips to the wat are for educational and tourist purposes, one of our teams actually use the local temples as venues for doing children’s ministry.
This past Tuesday during our virtual prayer we heard from the team leader that the actual space that they had been using for a few years now and were presently using was being prepared for a new idol. The area was cordoned off with rope and work was being done to prepare the base. This troubled our team who really needed this space to engage with children of different age groups meaningfully. Was this a polite way of communicating that we were no longer welcome at the temple?
When they returned to the temple this past Thursday, the monk who was in charge informed the team that the builder in charge of this new project was not available any longer. They thus removed the ropes and cleaned up this newly built base inviting the team to continue using a now much better space for their weekly ministry.
As the team praised God for his answer to prayer the team leader said, “Today God answered our prayer. HE is truly great!”
