Happy New Year!
For 3 days in a row the Tai Lue celebrate their New Year with a big Water Splashing Festival. Traditionally this was a time to wash away the sins of the previous year as well as sprinkle blessings on one another for the coming year. Today, for most, it is just a reason to take part in a huge water fight. Even so, the roots are there, and it shows that the Tai Lue do have some awareness of sin and the need to be cleansed.
“He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5)
Lord, please reveal to the Tai Lue that Jesus is the only way anyone can be washed clean of their sins.
There are about 1.2-1.5 million Tai Lue, living in Southwest China, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar. Less of 1% of that population knows Jesus. Learn more about the Tai Lue here.
Will you please pray with us for the Tai Lue during the coming 11 days (14-24 April)?
