John was teaching a youth group in a village on the border between Thailand and Myanmar. It was a world away from the theological library and seminar rooms of Redcliffe College in Gloucester, England where he had been studying. It was his overseas mission placement.

Following God’s Leading

As he led the group, he felt prompted by the Lord to share one story in particular. It was the one where Jesus heals a woman who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years when she touched his cloak (Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-34 and Luke 8:43-48). It was perhaps an unusual story to share with a youth group, but John felt he should.

A Woman With an Issue of Blood

Among the young people listening that day was a woman with a similar condition. As she listened, she became convicted that she, too, needed to touch the hem of Jesus’ cloak. The meeting ended and the woman went home. But on the wall at home was a calendar with a picture of Jesus wearing a long robe.

God's healing touch

Faith To Move Mountains

She reached out, touched the robe in the picture and was healed. The Lord honoured her simple faith. Amazed, the woman rushed around the village to share how God had healed her.

Long Term-Impact

God is still at work in that village. But he chose to use John to go and tell a story, a story that brought healing. How might God use you?
