Can your prayers make a difference on the other side of the world?
Recently a colleague shared how absurd it is to see what God is doing during the month of prayer for their people group in comparison to the rest of the year. God delights to work through the prayers of His people.
“Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.” (James 5:17-18)
So, October is the month! Please join us during this month in united prayer for a breakthrough and a biblical indigenous church movement among the Shan, Shui and Zhuang! Choose the people group(s) that God is giving you a burden to pray for and sign up or download their prayer material.
There are 5-6 million Shan People living in Myanmar, Southwest China and North Thailand. Only about 12,000 of them are Christian. However, the Shan are more open to the Gospel now than at any time in history. Learn more about the Shan here.
- Sign up for the Shan month of prayer on their Facebook page.
There are about 500,000 Shui people living in a mountainous region in Southwest China. In October the Shui celebrate their biggest festival; their New Year’s Celebration. This is an important time to pray for them, as families and friends come together to celebrate. Learn more about the Shui here.
- You can download the Shui prayer calendar here.
The Zhuang is the largest minority, 20 million people, in China. They mainly live in Guangxi province. Their language can be divided in 16 main language groups. There is a New Testament available in only one of those languages and only 0,5% of the total population of Zhuang is Christian. Learn more about the Zhuang here.
How can such a big people group still be so unreached? If you feel this people group needs more prayer than only during the month of October, please join the campaign #20millionwait to pray for the Zhuang for a whole year.
