As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
‘Loving and discipling the kids of those loving and discipling Asia.’ This vision statement is how those working in the OMF Boarding Home Program in Chiang Mai, Thailand, see their ministry. They support missionaries serving in Asia by providing a loving and caring home away from home for children.
“. . . we have 9 kids attending two different schools. So far, we have been extremely busy with all the beginning things: we have attended 3 Parent-Teacher orientations, watched futsal games, had our own dorm orientations, took part in a dorm party with other boarding homes, took our kids to a waterfall for an outing, interviewed three families as their kids started the new year, took a student to the airport to travel to Bangkok for a visa, did lots of house maintenance (changing door handles, fixing the water system, painting), planned a chores roster, had family devotions, held a birthday party, helped with homework, trained a new dorm assistant, corresponded with future dorm assistants and dorm parents who will replace us . . .
We are grateful for a 21-year-old guy who is working with us as our dorm assistant. He is a great help and the kids really like him.” From a boarding home parent’s prayer letter
- God to provide committed boarding home parents and assistants so children can attend appropriate day schools.
- Screening and training of boarding staff so that children continue to receive the loving care they need.
- Strong relational skills, stamina, and spiritual discernment for boarding staff.
- Good and open communication between children, parents, and boarding home staff
