Journey to faith
When I was growing up, God was never really on my radar. It wasn’t until I moved to Sydney that God revealed Himself to me through a Christian friend, leading me to explore Christianity and eventually turn to Christ.
Looking back, I see that uprooting my life and adapting to a new culture was part of God’s bigger plan. Though I had ignored Him, God pursued me through my friend, and later placed many Christian brothers and sisters in my life to disciple me. Their example continues to challenge me to do likewise.
Journey to mission
My time at Bible college planted and nurtured a growing desire to be involved in cross-cultural mission. Isaiah 6:8, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” deeply impacted me.
After many conversations and prayers, I connected with OMF, which led to a short-term mission trip to Taiwan. We visited a rural town where there were no Christians apart from the missionaries serving there. Their love for God led them to live among the Taiwanese, and God used them to draw people to Himself.
The trip opened my eyes to how outward appearances can be deceiving. Sixteen million Taiwanese—that’s 70% of the population—work long hours that often include Sundays, which is usually when churches meet. Today, less than 1% among these Taiwanese workers follow Jesus.
I found myself asking God, “If You want me to live among them, would I willing to be uprooted once more and go?” I’ve since been taking steps in saying yes towards becoming a missionary—to see more Taiwanese people encounter Jesus, be transformed by Him, and experience the same grace that has transformed my own life.
- Pray for the unreached people of Taiwan to encounter Jesus personally and be transformed by Him.
- Pray that the presence of Christians will increase tremendously in Taiwan. May each of God’s people share the good news of Jesus with other Taiwanese.
- Pray for my heart to remain closely aligned with the Lord’s will, including serving in the ministry He calls me to in Taiwan.
