Pray

We often underestimate the meaning of prayer. God promised to answer our prayers and we have experienced before, how impossible things happened when people were praying. If you are looking for an effective way to be part of God’s work in the Philippines then start with prayer. Here you can find information on what to pray for.

We invite you to pray for the people of the Philippines, for just five minutes a day using our 5x5x5 pdf prayer guide.

Pray for the Philippines

The task unfinished is first and foremost a call to prayer.

As we pray we want to wait on the Lord and listen to him, to pray with passion and expectancy and look to the Lord to do great things. Please take time to focus on the land of Philippines and its people, praying alone and with others, as we long for spiritual breakthrough!

Government

“Heavenly Father, we pray for all who are in high positions in the Philippines. May their rule make it possible for people to lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Relief work

“Lord Jesus, we pray for those affected by the recent calamities in the Philippines. Please heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. And teach us, like the early believers in Antioch, to send them relief according to our ability.” (Psalm 147:3; Acts 11:27-29)

Children

“Lord Jesus, we pray for the children of the Philippines. We do so remembering that You want the children to come to You. You do not want them hindered, for to such belong the kingdom of God. Bless them, we pray.” (Mark 10:13-16)

Local churches

“Heavenly Father, we pray for the churches in the Philippines. May they be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing to You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You. May they be strengthened with all power, according to Your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to You.” (Colossians 1:9-12a)

OMF Philippines

“Heavenly Father, we pray for the missionaries serving in the Philippines. May words be given to them in opening their mouth so as to boldly proclaim the mystery of the gospel.” (Ephesians 6:19)

More workers

“Lord of the Harvest, the spiritual harvest in the Philippines is plentiful, but the laborers are few. We earnestly pray that You send out more laborers into Your harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38)

Unreached People Groups

“Heavenly Father, we pray that Your word may speed ahead and be honored among all the peoples of the Philippines.” (2 Thessalonians 3:1)

Overseas Filipino Workers

“Lord of the nations, we pray for the millions of Filipinos working around the world. Please be with them like you were with Joseph. May their employers see that You are with them and that You cause all that they do to succeed.” (Genesis 39:1-4)

Partners

“Heavenly Father, we pray for those who missionaries partner with in ministry. As Tychicus was to the Apostle Paul, may those partners be beloved brothers and sisters, faithful ministers, and fellow servants in the Lord.” (Colossians 4:7-9)

Integrated ministry (sex trade workers, creation care, etc., Gospel touching all of society)

“Lord Jesus, we want Your gospel to make an impact on every aspect of Philippine society. May justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Through churches and missionaries, may the weary and burdened find rest in Jesus Christ.” (Amos 5:24; Matthew 11:28-30)

Students

“Heavenly Father, we pray that the education which takes place in the houses, schools, and churches of the Philippines will train up students in the way they should go. We also pray that, even when they are old, may they not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

Third Culture Kids (Children of missionaries)

“Heavenly Father, we pray for third-culture kids. Like the prophet Daniel, help them adjust well to whatever culture they find themselves in. Give them favor, compassion, learning, skill, and deep understanding. Grant them friends like Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah to help them remain faithful to You.” (Daniel 1:1-20)
