Church Planting & Evangelism
In several East Asian nations, a mature church exists. They welcome ministry specialists such as theology educators. In other East Asian nations, the church is less developed. They are happy to have church planters, evangelists, and teachers come and join them. In all contexts, we seek to do mission in an integral way. So there may also be opportunities for those with skills in community development, creation care, and healthcare. Plus, a growing number of teams use digital media to strengthen church ministries and evangelism.
Are you excited about sharing your faith? Have you been part of a church plant? Do you already lead Bible studies with students or young professionals? Do you have the energy and compassion to connect with the elderly? Do you enjoy creating digital material for ministry?
If so, consider working in teams and alongside local believers, bringing the good news of Jesus in all its fullness to East Asia’s people.
Theological Education
The church in East Asia is growing in number and maturity. To continue its growth, it needs well-trained leaders who will help develop their understanding of the faith, equip them for service in the church, and enable them to live Christ-honoring lives in their cultural context. Toward this end, OMF mobilizes and sends a broad spectrum of theological educators who serve the church through formal, informal, and non-formal teaching and training. Throughout East Asia, OMF members can be found lecturing at theological colleges and seminaries, training lay believers in specific ministry skills within local congregations and in broader settings, and equipping grassroots workers for service.

East Asian students are often more open to new ideas than those in full-time employment. Plus, they often have more time to explore those ideas. Add in the fact that there are over 7,500 universities in East Asia, and it’s easy to understand why we value student ministry. Several East Asian countries have well-established student ministries with whom OMF partners.
