By God’s grace I am privileged to finish my 4-year college course soon. Truly, God has a plan for me. I am Gerald Albario, a graduating student at Rizal Technological University in Bachelor of Science in Office Administration, majoring in Office Management.
I became part of the Bukang Liwayway Sponsorship Program in 2008 when I was in Grade 5. Becoming part of this sponsorship program was a big favor for me and my family. My father has been a widower since 2006, having five children and I am the fourth of them. My father has no stable work so he was not able to provide some of our needs. However, even in this situation I knew that my father loves us.
When I was an elementary scholar, I admitted that I attended the bible study only to receive the benefits from the Bukang Liwayway program such as the weekly allowance. However, through bible study I realized that God wanted to transform my mind to overcome the world. Aside from bible studies, the camp also had a big impact, as I encountered Jesus and he became my Saviour. As I look back on those days, I always knew there was a God but I didn’t know who he really was and I didn’t know how to pray to him. In fact this scholarship program helped me not only in the physical but also the spiritual aspects of my life.
I’ve also been involved in ministry that helped me to develop my self confidence.
One especially memorable moment was when I saw how God moved when our community in Blk 35 was burned by fire. We saved nothing from that incident, but I believed that God would provide. My sponsor from Singapore contacted me through Facebook after the fire. He has always been a blessing; he helped me in many ways that he could. I am grateful to have him even if we’re not blood related, but still he always extends his hand so that I feel that I am not alone, that’s why I want to use this opportunity to give thanks to him. Thank you so much! ?
