This year our little church went in three directions over the Christmas period. One group went to the North East to visit the village of Lek’s family. Lek is part of our church in Bangkok and she wanted people in her home town to hear the good news of Jesus. So many people were interested and came for the event that they actually had to run it twice…once for the kids and once again for the adults. Lots of Lek’s extended family have shown an interest in following Jesus. Praise the Lord!
Back in Bangkok and in our own neighborhood, Phi Jim, the elected village head and church member, organized a Christmas outreach in the community centre. It was so encouraging to see how she planned a simple and reproducible program with kids doing a dance, a video explanation of the true meaning of Christmas, a Thai Christian giving a simple testimony, lots of gifts and lots of food. Phi Jim had everyone stand and she gave a simple example of how you can pray to God. She explained how He loves each one and is interested in our lives. She encouraged us all to reach out to God in prayer. Please pray for our neighbours, that they would seek after God.
The third group from church went off to Loey province to visit extended family there and share the Gospel with them.
With all this travel and activity we didn’t actually have church in our usual place on Christmas Eve! Instead the church went out to where the people were.
