Accountable to: Director of Mobilisation

Primary working relationships: Serve Asia Teams Coordinator, Regional Directors, Regional PAs, Director of Personnel, Admin support, OMF Fields, International Serve Asia Facilitator

Expected Term: Full time (35 hours per week) for 3 - 5 years with effect from 1 September 2010

Core task: Overall responsibility for Serve Asia Teams Programme

  • Manage OMF UK Serve Asia Teams programme in consultation with OMF regional offices.
  • Oversee and participate in the promotion of the teams programme and the recruitment and screening of team applicants.
  • Prepare the annual estimate (budget) for the teams programme and monitor overall expenditure.
  • Manage Serve Asia Teams Co-ordinator: i.e. determine team locations in line with OMF UK mobilisation strategy and have overall responsibility for administration of programme.
  • Co-ordinate delivery of OMF UK orientation and debriefing weekend conferences for teams (and make available to individual Serve Asia Workers where helpful).
  • Co-ordinate regular review and implementation of ‘best practice’ in all aspects of the teams programme, including recruitment and screening, and appropriate training for those doing interviewing.
  • Take the lead in initiating and arranging student teams (e.g. from CUs), but delegate a particular team to a Regional Director when he or she has the key relationship with a student leader.
  • Support the Regions in developing more church teams.
  • Act on Regional Director’s request to take responsibility for a particular church team when the Serve Asia Facilitator or Serve Asia Teams Coordinator has the key relationship with the church leader.
  • Develop programme to include a significant number of vision trips for church leaders, church youth workers and professionals.
  • Provide support and resources for UK mobilisers with relation to Serve Asia; both teams and individuals programmes.
  • Build community among Serve Asia Returnees.
  • Motivate Serve Asia Returnees to remain committed to mission & connected with OMF.
  • Leverage Serve Asia Returnees into mobilisation and advocacy amongst peers for mission, Asia and OMF.
  • Publicise OMF Serve Asia programme through UK church and student networks.
  • Represent OMF UK in OMF international Serve Asia discussions and initiatives, and at Global Connections Short Term Forum.

Secondary task - Mobilisation of Youth and Students

  • Raise awareness of OMF and East Asia among Gen X & Y young people.
  • Participate in the annual OMF U30s Conferences.
  • Ensure OMF Serve Asia representation at UK conferences and conventions.
  • Actively seek and undertake speaking and conference engagements, and coordinate others to do so (e.g. China Ministries Coordinator).
  • Intentionally mentor students into mission, be mission consultant to UK youth and students.
  • Build relationships with and support CU leaders especially those with responsibility for international students and mission.
  • Write or commission mobilisation articles for OMF publicity and UK Christian press.
  • Stimulate student and youth prayer for East Asia in UK.
